for 2025-2026 in the amount of $179,867,685 with a proposed millage increase of
5.53 mills (4%).
Mr. Hester thanked those who attended the meeting and shared during public comment. He
explained that he has looked very closely at the budget and has spent a lot of time reviewing it with
the Business Manager, Ms. Kirk. He shared that the Board has cut as much as they can, but there
are items that are out of their control and items that they are still unsure about in regard to if they
will or will not be funded by the Federal Government. If programs like the National School Lunch
Program or programs for students with special needs are cut from the Federal Budget, the Board
wants to be prepared to be able to take care of the students in the District and his hope is that the
budget is reflective of that.
Mr. DiTullio shared that there has been a 15-20-year plan in place to ensure that the Board is
making the right decisions. Unfortunately, there has been a 20% increase in transportation costs
and a 20% increase in medical costs that were not figured into the long-term plan. In addition,
there are buildings that need to be renovated due to their age, and they must account for the
projected District growth of 10% over the next 10 years. These items are now part of the long-term
plan. He also shared that our goal as a District is to create members of society that are productive.
Mr. Jacobs motioned, seconded by Ms. Harrison, to approve the Final 2025-2026 General Fund
Budget. The motion carried on a roll call vote with those present voting in the affirmative.
