Cranberry voters planning to use a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot for the November 3 general election face two different deadlines: Butler County must receive the application by 5 p.m. October 27, and the completed ballot by 8 p.m. November 3. A timely postmark alone does not meet the ballot-return deadline, according to Pennsylvania's voting instructions.1

The county says over-the-counter mail voting began October 1. Its general-election page also provides sample ballots for all eleven Cranberry precincts, from East 1 through East 3 and West 1 through West 8. Residents can use the ballot for their own precinct to review the choices before voting.2

Applying and returning are separate steps

Registered voters can apply online through the state's mail-ballot instructions. October 19 is the last day to register for this election, according to the state's election calendar. Voters can use its linked registration information to check the requirements.13

The county's elections office is at 227 W Cunningham St in Butler. Its published regular hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Check with the office before traveling; a statutory application deadline does not establish special counter hours. The county's election page lists extended hours earlier in October, which have already passed.24

Follow the instructions supplied with the ballot. State guidance calls for the marked ballot to be sealed inside the yellow official-election-ballot envelope, then inside the outer return envelope. Sign the declaration and write the current date on that outer envelope. The state instructions explain how to return the completed ballot to the county election board.1

Check the polling place before Election Day

For voters going to the polls, November 3 voting hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The township says people in line by 8 p.m. can vote. Its voter-information page links the state's polling-place search and lists Cranberry's precinct locations; use the official lookup to check the location assigned to your address.56

This guide concerns ordinary civilian voting; military, overseas and emergency absentee procedures have separate instructions. Use the linked state guidance or contact the county elections bureau about individual circumstances.1
