Seneca Valley’s school board approved a revision to its graduation-requirements policy on May 11, 2026, by a 5–3 roll-call vote, according to the district’s posted action-meeting minutes. The decision followed debate over eliminating half a credit of physical education to make room for a personal-finance course. [Pages 4–5]

Mark Gartner opposed the reduction, saying students’ health and well-being were as important as the finance course. Kari Zimmer supported the flexibility, describing an option to forgo physical education during one of four high-school years. Susan Harrison said students could still choose physical education as an elective. [Pages 4–5]

Harrison, Tim Hester, Zimmer, Nick Brower and Eric DiTullio voted yes. Travis Savitt-Kraft, Gartner and Allyson Mazzoni voted no. Hester made the motion, and Brower seconded it. [Page 5]

The minutes identify the measure as Policy 217, Graduation Requirements, approved on first and final reading. They do not reproduce the revised policy or identify the affected graduation cohorts or its effective date. The May vote therefore establishes the board’s recorded action, not a complete guide to any individual student’s current requirements. [Pages 4–5]
