The Cranberry Township Board of Supervisors voted 4-0 on May 28, 2026, to adopt Resolution No. 2026-31, authorizing the transfer of settlement funds to purchase a parcel the township is calling the St. Ferdinand property, at Rochester Road and Thompson Park Drive, and empowering Bruce Hezlep, Chairman, to sign all necessary closing documents, including the deed, on the township's behalf as grantee. The minutes do not record a purchase price.

The land deal came amid a busy agenda-preparation session dominated by growth. Ron Henshaw, Director of Planning & Development Services, briefed the board on three subdivision and land-development applications headed to the June 4 regular meeting for a vote: preliminary and final approval for the three-lot Graham Subdivision on roughly 55.47 acres along Graham School Road; a lot-line adjustment inside Glen Eden Development Company's Brookvue, Phase 4, around an existing home; and, for Henderson Crossing along Route 228/Franklin Road/Hillmont Drive, both a consolidation of ten lots into five and final approval of the project's infrastructure phase, which Henshaw said will include grading, stormwater management, sewer and water systems.

Residents used the public-comment period to flag the strains growth puts on township systems. Stuart Hammerschmidt, HOA President of Autumn Hill, raised concern about the stormwater maintenance fee. Jim Lynskey, of Franklin Road, objected to construction traffic on his street and asked the township to install a small fence in Graham Park near fields E and F to keep balls from going into the creek.

The board also ratified four staff moves, all effective in June: Tammy Lynd as Customer Service Representative at $19.45 an hour, effective June 1; Kristie Long as Planning Administrative Assistant at $21.50 an hour, effective June 1; Nicholas Osso as Utility Worker I in the Public Works Department's Traffic Operations division at $30.26 an hour, effective June 2; and the conditional hire of Chad Alviani as Finance Director at a semi-monthly rate of $4,792, effective June 15.

In other same-night action, supervisors adopted Resolution No. 2026-32 authorizing a grant application to the Department of Community & Economic Development's Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program for an environmental trail and neighborhood connector in Graham Park; appointed Tim Casey to the Zoning Hearing Board to fill the vacancy left by Glenn Geisel, with a term running through December 31, 2028; and ratified the $59,695.24 purchase of a Kubota Tractor for Cranberry Highlands Golf Course through the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing program, after the golf course's 2010 John Deere fairway mower suffered an engine failure that staff deemed uneconomical to repair given its age and 10,000 hours of use.

The rest of the night's business previewed items for the June 4 regular meeting rather than deciding them. Michael Malak, Director of Engineering & Environmental Services, updated the board on the Solids Handling Upgrade, for which the township is due to consider partial payments of $1,863,599.40 to Kukurin Contracting and $93,888.02 to McCurley Houston Electric while a second digester is under construction; on Community Park North Improvements, where change orders would extend contractor deadlines from June 19 to August 31, 2026, alongside a string of partial payments to Thomas Construction, Shipley Plumbing and McCurley Houston Electric; and on several other paving, waterline and turf projects nearing completion. Daniel Santoro, Township Manager, told the board that PennDOT has scheduled the closure of Mars Road, tied to the Franklin Road project, from June 17 through July 5, 2026.
